Dave's Message (Athletic Director)
-
The most successful teams are those parents who are in
support of the coaches, players, cheerleaders and other volunteers. Parents,
get out there and volunteer your time and talents. Don't use the coach as
your babysitter. You have something you can contribute to your team. A
unified team who shows loyalty and unification to the team is a Winner.
This shows children the value of team work.
-
The League expects you as parents to control your
emotions at games and at practices. The board, and coaches make decisions
that are most always going to be unpopular with someone. Each year
volunteers may present themselves for a board member position. Games:
Officials are human and they make bad calls from time to time. Sometimes a
games isn't fair in your view or the coach's. However, keep in mind, that
what you do sends out a message to children what is acceptable behavior.
There are lessons to be taught in victories as well as defeats. At the end
of the game, talk to your children, share your feelings, but teach in a
positive way.
-
The League has observed that many over eager parents have
a tendency to re-live their youth through their children. Your children do
not think like an adult. This sport is not easy for them... they have to
learn and develop at their speed. Don't expect them to play on the NFL
level in youth football. Respectfully parents.... you've had your day. It
is now your CHILDREN'S day in the sun. Let THEM shine.
-
Treat all coaches and board members with respect and
dignity and they will do likewise. They are volunteers who contribute their
time and talents for the benefit of your children. You may not always agree
with a coach's or the boards decision, however, they have the final say in
this program.
-
You are not paying for the right to choose a position for
your child, otherwise we would have 34 quarterbacks on a team. The coach
decides who plays what position on each team.
-
If you feel that you are being treated unfairly, talk to
your coach first. If that does not resolve your issues, talk to the
Coaching Coordinator. If that does not resolve your issues, talk to the
Vice President and/or President, which is the final decision in all issues.
Any parent who will not follow this course of action will be in jeopardy of
losing their membership and children's membership in the League without a
refund.
-
The League expects you to get your child to practice and
games on time. This is your responsibility. On game day, children are
inspected for proper equipment. If your child is not properly equipped to
play, he will be declared ineligible to play. This is a parental
responsibility to make sure the child has all items (including hard cup and
mouth piece) in order to play. It is not a coaches' responsibility to do
this.
-
A coach is may prevent a child from playing in games if
he misses 2 practices in a week. In addition, the coach may discipline a
child by not allowing him to play in the game if the player is not following
the rules or directions of the coach. NOTE: Coaches have distributed team
rules in the form of a letter. Some individual team rules may be less or
more harsh than this basic rule. There are no rules that I have received to
date that are considered unreasonable by board.
-
You, as a parent, have the right to inspect the League
Rules that are provided to each team's head coach. They are provided at the
open board meetings.
